My name is Chinenye Onyeanwu. I am a doctoral student in Public Health Science New Mexico State University. My academic study began with a bachelor of science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I have a master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Molecular Biology from University of Skovde Sweden. I was so intrigued by my discoveries of challenging health problems seeking solutions from these study that I got interested in pursuing a public health degree.
I have been involved in various research projects such as “Nutrient and anti-nutrient composition of some lesser-known green leafy vegetables” which aimed at determining the micronutrient content of some near extinct green leafy vegetables within our locality. Another of my projects is determining the molecular mechanism behind exercise-induced conditions after recovery from stroke from people ages 65 and above. I was led to continue working with the elderly after this project, seeing that there are lots of underlying issues predisposing this population to health challenges. Recently, I have been investigating health disparities among the older adult’s population.
