Ruby N. Turalba-Khalil, EdD, MPH (aka Dr. Ruby or Dr. T-K) has served as faculty in the Department of Public Health at San Francisco State University (SFSU) for 15+ years, where she integrates cultural humility, liberation education, and personal narratives to explore social and health inequities. She has mentored thousands of undergraduate and master’s students, many who are low-income, immigrant, and first-generation college students of color. Ruby has led multiple community-based research initiatives to improve the health and well-being of Filipina/x/os in San Francisco. Dr. T-K holds a B.S. in psychology from UC Berkeley, and received her MPH and EdD from SFSU. She identifies as a scholar practitioner working for community, health, and justice.
