Pedro's work is influenced by his training in public health, his background being the son of immigrant farm workers, and fatherhood. This combination gives Pedro a unique perspective that positions him to bring an equity and community-oriented lens to public health efforts. Pedro served as founding executive director of REACH Ashland Youth Center, a $23 million County built and operated facility, believed to be the largest of its kind in the country. In his current position of Human Services Manager with the City of San Leandro, he supports the development of a new department and led the development of the City's first Age-Friendly Action Plan. He has made it his personal and professional mission to work in collaboration with other committed people to ensure equity for all.
