Jacob Cooper, MLA, is a plain language writer at the UAMS Center for Health Literacy. Committed to making health information more accessible, Jacob specializes in creating and refining health materials for the public. He also facilitates training on plain language at UAMS and beyond. In addition to his primary role, Jacob is actively researching how to use AI to improve communication.
Jacob began his writing career as a newspaper staff writer, where he practiced communicating complex information clearly. This experience led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in English from Arkansas State University and a master’s degree in English from Henderson State University and transition into education. With over a decade of experience in higher education, Jacob brings a well-rounded skill set to his work in health literacy.
