Dr. Jean M. Breny is a Professor at Southern Connecticut State University. She received her PhD in Public Health/Health Behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her public health research and practice aims to achieve health equity through an antiracism lens, using Photovoice research and CBPR. She conducted Photovoice in BIPOC communities in CT uncovering COVID-19 related health inequities and used it to inform health policy and advocacy efforts. Dr. Breny is an Affiliated Scientist in the Yale University Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS. She was a Fulbright Specialist in global health in Izmir, Turkey and is Past President of SOPHE. Her co-authored book, Photovoice for Social Justice: Visual Representation in Action, was published in 2021.
