Dr. Gardiner is an assistant professor of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri Kansas City. Her program of research is focused on food and nutrition insecurity, food and nutrition behaviors, access to healthy foods, and the impact food access issues have on health and health outcomes. She has experience in both practice and research emphasizing community-based participatory research through collaborative community partnerships and among divers populations. Current research has been focused on Food is Medicine (FiM) interventions targeting food insecure minority adults with an existing chronic disease. Her leadership roles include the Evaluation and Learning Chair for the SOPHE Midwest Chapter, and the Chair-elect for the Community and Public Health Nutrition group through the ASN.
