Dr. Grant is an internationally recognized award-winning media psychologist, author, researcher, Doctoral Addictions Counselor, educator with specific expertise in technology's impact on mental health, and National Advisor of Healthy Device Management for Newport Healthcare. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, served as President of APA Division 46, and currently serves as a D46 Executive Board Member and Chair of the APA “Device Management & Intelligence” committee. He is an APA Advocacy Division Partner Liaison, APA Division Science Partner, and Treasurer of the California Psychological Association Division VI (Media Technology and Communication).
He designs and facilitates “Healthy Device Management”/“Good Digital Citizenship” treatment/educational workshops for clinicians, practitioners, educators, parents, and academic communities and is a popular conference keynote speaker, webinar, podcast, broadcast interview guest, and print content contributor on device-centric behaviors, addiction, and media psychology. His interview contributions include: The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, New York Times, Time Magazine, Forbes, The Hill, The Hollywood Reporter, ABC News, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, The Daily Show, and a two-page People Magazine feature story about him and his work.
Current projects include a “Healthy Device Management and Good Digital Citizenship” workbook for practitioners, treatment programs, and educators, serving as Chapter Leader/Co-Editor/Author with a cohort of global experts on several chapters in a special handbook by Springer Publishing (in partnership with Children and Screens), as chapter author on the beliefs, behaviors, and impacts of device-centric engagement for two academic handbooks, serving on the “Expert Advisory Panel” for an APA scientific report regarding teen online video content, and partnering with the National Association of Behavioral Healthcare “Youth Services Committee” on the development and all content creation for “Safe Connections,” their new national media literacy focused youth cyberhealth & safety campaign.
