Shel Lessington currently serves as the Program Manager for Public Health and Equity for the Epilepsy Foundation. She is responsible for building strong relationships with people with epilepsy and caregivers in support of EF's Programs and responding to the needs of the epilepsy community through educating and engaging people with epilepsy and their caregivers, specifically expanding the Multicultural & Equity partnerships. She also leads the evaluation implementation for Chronic Disease Self-Management Program activities. Prior to joining the Epilepsy Foundation, Shel worked as the PRAPARE Project Specialist at the National Association of Community Health Centers, where Shel was responsible for providing ongoing training technical support to over 1400 health centers and state and regional primary care associations nationally on how to effectively collect, understand and act on standardized data about their patients’ social determinants of health. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Shel graduated from the University of South Carolina with her Bachelors in Biology and later relocated to Washington, DC to obtain her Master of Public Health in 2016 at the George Washington University.
