Sunshine Cowan, Ph.D., MPH, MCHES® likes the thought of making a difference – including those actions with small, humble beginnings. Hoping to “be the change,” she fell in love with Community Health, instantly won over by this discipline that promised to make a true difference – including its focus on recognizing community expertise.
Sunshine is a Professor at the University of Central Oklahoma where she is Co-Coordinator of the Public Health program and Director of the John A. Maisch Collective for the Greater Good. This combination of work roles allows her to do the two things she loves: connect to community partners in meaningful ways and teach students. Sunshine holds a doctoral degree in Environmental Science from Oklahoma State University, and an MPH from the University of Oklahoma.
