Detailed abstract description: Many Eta Sigma Gamma (ESG) chapters have struggled to remain active and keep student members engaged since the pandemic. The culture around student organizations and out-of-class engagement shifted during the pandemic, and bringing these groups back to a thriving state has been challenging. Students and advisors from the University of Cincinnati’s Gamma Eta chapter of ESG will describe how they have reignited their chapter’s energy, created engaging opportunities, and sustained active members after the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, strategies around leadership development and structuring an executive board, event planning, student empowerment, communication techniques, use of social media, and the role of the advisor will be shared. Lessons learned and recommendations will be provided that representatives from other ESG chapters can apply to their own groups. Representatives from other ESG chapters are encouraged to attend to ask questions and share what they have learned and accomplished with their own groups through these challenging times.
